The Auctions will see 19 players go under the hammer with some big names up for grabs

The Mini-Auction for WPL 2025 is set to be held in Bengaluru on December 15. The BCCI has informed the franchises about the development.

There are 19 slots to be filled up with 14 Indian players & 5 Overseas players up for grabs, the board has informed the franchises about the date and venue.

Each team can spend up to INR 15 crore and have a squad size of 18 players. Each squad is allowed a maximum of six overseas players in the squad.

After the retentions, Gujarat Giants has the maximum purse of INR 4.4 crore with four slots to fill. The dates for the 22-match tournament haven't been announced as yet, but, the tournament is once again likely to be staged in the February-March window once again.

Smriti Mandhana-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru are the reigning champions beating Delhi Capitals in the final earlier this year. While Harmanpreet Kaur led Mumbai Indians won the Inaugural title beating the Delhi Capitals in the finals.

Before the auctions, the team was asked to submit their list of retained players for the upcoming season of WPL the franchises were asked to submit their retentions, let's have a look at the retentions & releases of all the five teams.

WPL Retentions & Releases

1. Delhi Capitals (Purse Left- INR 2.5CR)

The Delhi Capitals Women's team has been one of the most consistent sides in the 2-year old history of the WPL. However, they haven't been able to cross the final hurdle on both occasions, Delhi played both the finals of the WPL losing to Harmanpreet Kaur's Mumbai Indians & Smriti Mandhana's RCB.

The Capitals from Delhi have retained most of the core players releasing those players who were mostly warming the bench last year.

2. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (Purse left- INR 3.25CR)

The reigning champions of the WPL have surprisingly let go of 6 of their players ahead of the mini auctions, the list included veteran South African player Nadine De Klerk. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru-based franchise has also bolstered its lineup by getting the services of England batter Danni-Wyatt-Hodge in a trade deal with the UP Warriorz.

3. Mumbai Indians (Purse Left- INR 2.65CR)

The champions of the inaugural edition Mumbai Indians have let go of England's premier fast bowler Issy Wong who took the first hat-trick in the history of WPL. Wong had a limited role due to Shabnim Ismail's presence in the lineup.

The UP Warriorz traded England batter Danni-Wyatt-Hodge to RCB, and the Alyssa Healy-led UP had a poor tournament last year finishing at the bottom of the table.

The Gujarat Giants have let go of their premier all-rounder Sneh Rana who also led the side in Beth Mooney's absence after she was ruled out due to an injury. In the last season, Sneh just played four games scoring only 13 runs with 0 wickets to her name.
