BCCI Adds Sundar In Test Squad

Star Tamil Nadu All-Rounder Washington Sundar has been added to the Team India squad for the remaining two tests against New Zealand. Sundar is currently involved in a Ranji Trophy clash against Delhi in the national capital.

Sundar will join the side ahead of the second test match at Pune, which is scheduled to begin on October 24. Sundar has played four tests for India, all in 2021.

His short test career already includes team India's iconic win at the Gabba. Sundar in his 4-match test career has scored 265 runs in 6 innings averaging nearly 50 with a score of 96* not against England being the highest score. On the bowling front, Sundar has picked up 6 wickets.

Sundar who is currently in Delhi playing for Tamil Nadu compiled a brilliant 152 in New Delhi while batting at number 3. Sundar has also picked up 2 wickets in the Ranji trophy clash against Delhi.

The Board of Control for Cricket In India (BCCI) made this announcement after Team India lost the first test against the touring Kiwis by 8 wickets at Bengaluru. Team India lacked some depth and bite in bowling and batting in this test, leading to Sundar being added to the test squad for the remainder of the series.

With Sundar in, India, now has the luxury of 5 quality spinners R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav & Axar Patel.
