Star Indian batter Virat Kohli was booed by the crowd while trudging back to the pavilion after nicking a Scott Boland delivery to Alex Carey to get out caught behind. Kohli since the hundred at Perth has been struggling for form and consistency.

In this boxing day test the majority of the opening two days revolved around Kohli. In the 10th over of the Australian innings, Kohli was involved in a heated argument with debutant Sam Konstas where the former Indian captain had bumped his shoulder with Konstas during the change of ends which led to the experienced batter getting fined 20% of his match fee & was also handed a demerit point. On day 2, Kohli was invaded by a fan while fielding, the fan hugged Virat Kohli but, was soon taken out of the playing arena.

Kohli who is struggling for runs once again fell to his most vulnerable shot as he edged a fourth-fifth stump line delivery by Scott Boland to give catch practice to Carey.

Upon his return to the dugout, a flurry of boos from the Australian crowd Irked Virat Kohli led him to come out and give a stare to the person who abused him. The support staff present at the venue had to intervene and calm things down.

Kohli walked into the middle when India was in a spot of bother at 51/2 with in-form batter KL Rahul (24) and captain Rohit Sharma's (3) dismissal. Kohli didn't look in any trouble early on in the innings, leaving the outside off-stump deliveries consistently. He forged a much-needed 102-run stand to recover India's innings after Australia posted 474 runs on the board.

However, all the hard work went down the drain as a miscommunication between Kohli and Jaiswal for a single saw Jaiswal walking back. Moments later, Kohli himself was trudging back to the pavilion, having succumbed to his vulnerability against balls outside the off-stump off Scott Boland.

India ended Day 2 on 164/5, still trailing by 310 runs. It has given Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja a mountain to climb on Day 3, and put India firmly on the back foot.
