Ace Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been added to the Indian ODI setup ahead of the 3-match ODI series against England. Chakravarthy was spotted training with the ODI squad ahead of the first ODI in Nagpur starting on Thursday (6th February).
Varun was the leading wicket-taker in the T20I series against England that concluded on Sunday (2nd Feb) at Mumbai. Chakravarthy picked 14 wickets across 5 games at an average of 9.86.

His inclusion takes India’s spinners tally to five – with Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja already in the squad. The national selectors have time until the conclusion of the upcoming series to settle their squad for the Champions Trophy.
Varun Chakravarthy came into the scheme of things once again after his brilliant form in the IPL with 21 wickets. He played a pivotal role in the entire season that helped the Knight Riders claim their third IPL title after a decade-long wait.

Varun was seen doing some fielding drills at the venue before he rolled his arm over and bowled to Virat Kohli & Shubman Gill in the nets. Whether Varun will be drafted into the ODI squad for the Champions Trophy is yet to be confirmed but this has sent a clear message that India are banking on a spin-heavy squad for CT with 4 tweakers already there.
Team India plays against England in a 3-match series before the champions Trophy with the 1st ODI starting on 6th Feb in Nagpur they then move to Cuttack to play the 2nd game, and the tour finally ends at the iconic Narendra Modi stadium on Feb 12th.
