Virat Kohli, one of the modern-day legends of the game hailed as 'King Kohli' has won many matches with his blade single-handedly. Kohli has played a pivotal role both as a leader and batter for India to ensure that the Indian batting is one of the strongest batting lineups in the world.
However, there are a few unwanted records that Kohli has recorded both as a leader and as a batter for India & as well as for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
A record that Virat Kohli would certainly not like one bit. The infamous record came in at the Men's T20 World Cup in 2021 in the UAE against the arch-rivals Pakistan, where India's neighbors overhauled a target of 152 without losing any wicket, thus ensuring that Kohli became the first Indian captain to lose T20 World Cup match by 10 wickets in an ICC event.
Team India recorded their lowest test score of 36-all out under the leadership of Virat Kohli in the 2020 Pink Ball test against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. India eventually went on to win the series under the leadership of stand-in captain Ajinkya Rahane.
The lowest total in the history of the IPL was also recorded under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. In the 10th season of the IPL in 2017, the Bangalore-based franchise was playing against the Kolkata Knight Riders. RCB were chasing a modest target of 131 where they ended up getting bundled out for a paltry 49.
Kohli had a great IPL season in 2024 churning up runs for fun, but, in a game against the Rajasthan Royals Kohli scored an unbeaten 100 off 67 balls ensuring that it was the slowest IPL history ever hit in the history of the tournament. RCB ended up losing that match by 6 wickets.
Virat Kohli has lost the most amount of games in IPL history (111) followed by Dinesh Karthik(109), who is also a former RCB player and played his last game for RCB alongside Virat Kohli.
Virat Kohli has some unwanted records in his glorious cricket career, but, one should never forget the records that he has achieved both as a player and captain for India & RCB. Kohli has been one of the lynchpins of the Indian batting lineup for a long period. It was under the leadership of Virat that Team India climbed from the 7th position in test rankings to the pinnacle.
