The Indian Premier League (IPL) is known for fast-paced batting and nail-biting finishes, but nothing makes the crowd get on their feet more than a towering six. Over the years, several great players have carved their names into IPL history by routinely clearing the boundary. Here we take a look at the five players who, as of the end of the 2025 season, have hit the most sixes in IPL history.
There is no denying the fact that Chris Gayle is the most notorious six-hitter in IPL history and comfortably sits at No. 1. Dubbed the "Universe Boss," Gayle not only had incredible power but impeccable timing that created carnage of bowlers throughout the year. In just 141 matches, Gayle hit 357 sixes.
Coming second on this list is the Indian opening batsman, Rohit Sharma, who is also the captain of Mumbai Indians. Rohit has smashed 297 sixes in 268 matches, the ease that Rohit seems to exhibit in decision-making and the power he generates with his wrists has led to big sixes.
Kohli has often been attributed with consistency and aggression, but what he has further added to that is an explosive power over the years. Kohli stands with 290 sixes to his name in 263 matches. Kohli uses classical cricketing shots and calculated aggression to hit sixes and reach the stands frequently.
The former CSK captain, MS Dhoni, is famous for his calmness and game-finishing abilities. Dhoni's 263 sixes that came while some were under rated pressure situations, will reflect upon his ability to accelerate the game when necessary.
Mr. 360 shines in fifth place with 251 sixes. It was his crazy shots and fearless hitting that transformed him into one of an all-time greats in the IPL and one of RCB's best performers.
