An exciting cricket event, the IPL honors both individual talent and team triumphs. The most desired awards in cricket are the Orange Cap, which goes to the top run scorer in the competition, and the Purple Cap, which goes to the top wicket-taker. Although certain athletes have left their marks on these prizes, several outstanding Indian athletes have nearly won them but were never able to secure them. Here are the top five Indian players who never won Purple Cap:
Since 2008-207 Ravichandran Ashwin played the IPL total 197 matches, bowling 1908 balls and claiming 106 wickets at an average of 23.53. There is no denying Ashwin's ability to dominate middle overs and take key wickets. He has represented several teams, including the Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and Chennai Super Kings. He's performed consistently, but he's never been able to get the Purple Cap.
Harbhajan Singh played a total of 163 matches in the IPL. He delivered 3416 balls, taking 150 wickets with an average of 26.86. Harbhajan is a legend in Indian cricket, and his skill and cunning helped many teams win the IPL. But never the Purple Cap wasn't intended to be.
Bumrah, the top fast bowler in the Indian team, can scare batters with his yorkers and velocity. Despite having the best economy rate and death bowling ability available, he hasn't been able to claim the Purple Cap, perhaps because of how few games he plays in comparison to other bowlers.
The legend spinner Amit Mishra will never win the Purple Cap in the IPL history. The seasoned leg-spinner has long been a regular for the Delhi Capitals, earning a reputation for his variety and cutting googly. Among Indian spinners who are still playing in the IPL, Mishra has taken the most wickets thus far.
Jadeja, one of the best spinners, hasn't been able to top the list of wicket-takers. The man we all love to call "Sir Jadeja" is an all-around bowler with outstanding fielding abilities. Despite his performances with the bat and the ball, the Purple Cap has remained elusive despite worrying many batters with his left-arm spin.
