The South Africa vs Sri Lanka test series is a very crucial one for both teams with a place for WTC final qualifications place on the line, which is set to be played in June 2025 at the iconic Lord's in London.
The cricket fans at Kingsmead, Durban saw a bowling feast as Sri Lanka first had the South Africans at the mat at 83/5 before Temba Bavuma's fighting knock of 70 helped the South Africans to finish 191.
What Followed post the first innings was probably the last possible thought in both camps & as well as the crowd, as the Sri Lankan batters danced to the tunes of Marco Jansen who ran in & dismantled the Lankan lineup with 7 wickets for just 13 runs in 6.5 overs also claiming the best figures by a South African bowler on home soil.
Only two of the Lankan batters could get into the double digits with the highest scores being 13 & 10 of All-rounder Kamindu Mendis & fast bowler Lahiru Kumara Respectively.
This test result could prove to be a crucial one for both sides in their road to make the WTC final as the series consists of just 2 matches. The second test of this tour is set to be played on December 5 at Saint George's Park at Gqeberha. The Lankan Lions then head home to play another 2-match test series against Australia. While the South Africans will be competing against Pakistan at home in another 2-match test rubber.
