End Of KKR-Iyer Relationship?

In a Major update just ahead of the IPL retentions the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Shreyas Iyer won KKR its 3rd title after 10 years and is all set to be released by the franchise after the negotiations with the KKR management didn't work out according to the plan.

According to the reports, the management stated that the Mumbai Batter proved to be a tough bloke to negotiate with, which then inevitably ensured that KKR was forced to leave their skipper ahead of the mega auctions.

Iyer Joined the Kolkata-based franchise in 2022 in the mega auctions at a hefty amount of 12.25 Crores. Iyer has played 28 games for the Knight Riders scoring 752 runs with 5 fifties. Iyer missed the 2023 IPL season after a recurring back injury. Nitish Rana then led the side last year.

Former Indian Off-Spinner Harbhajan Singh Predicted his players for Kolkata Knight Riders including Shreyas Iyer too in the list.

Harbhajan Singh's Views On KKR Via Star Sports

"Kolkata dominated the entire season of IPL 2024, its obvious that its not easy to leave out anyone, but, this is the time for retentions and you can have six players retained. My retained KKR players will be Shreyas Iyer, Sunil Narine, Andre Russel, Phil Salt & Rinku Singh for sure" Harbhajan spoke to Star Sports

Overall, Iyer has played 115 matches in his IPL career so far and scored 3127 runs at a strike rate of 127.48. Besides KKR, he has also played for Delhi Capitals.

With plenty of teams looking for a captain Iyer, once again could be a hot property to ensure that there is a big bidding war at the auction table.
