The Calendar is going to enter the month of September, and truckloads of cricketing action has been done and dusted, along with that few players have also decided to hang their boots in a particular format, while some have said a permanent goodbye to this beautiful game called cricket.

Today we will discuss the players who have retired from the game partially and fully in 2024 till date.

Cricketers Who Retired In 2024

1. Shikhar Dhawan-India (All-Formats)

The veteran Left-handed opener, hailing from the national capital announced his retirement on August 24, 2024. Dhawan played a key role in helping India win the Champions Trophy in 2013. Dhawan played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is for India. Coming first in our list of Cricketers who retired in 2024.

2. Dean Elgar- South Africa (All-Formats)

South Africa's Talismanic test batter Dean Elgar announced his retirement from International Cricket earlier this year after the conclusion of the second test against India at Newlands in Cape Town. Elgar in his last test was captaining the side-stepping -In for an injured Temba Bavuma. Elgar Played 94 International games for South Africa scoring 5451 runs. 3. Neil Wagner- New Zealand (All-Formats)

Wagner had a career with the Blackcaps playing 64 tests and picking up 260 scalps. The Kiwi fast bowler announced his decision in February this year. Coming third in our list of Cricketers who retired in 2024.

4. Heinrich Klaasen- South Africa (Tests)

The hard-hitting Wicket-Keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen hung his boots from the Test Cricket earlier in the year, to focus more on white-ball cricket. He retired from the in January this year. Coming fourth in our list of Cricketers who retired in 2024.

5. Dinesh Karthik-India (All-Formats)

Another hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batter this time from India, Dinesh Karthik announced his decision to retire even before the beginning of IPL 2024. Karthik's cricket career ended in Qualifier 2 of the TATA IPL 2024 when Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost to Rajasthan Royals at Ahmedabad. Karthik represented India in 26 tests, 94 ODIs, and 60 T20Is. Coming fifth in our list of Cricketers who retired in 2024.

6. Kedar Jadhav-India (All-Formats)

Another Indian follows in the list, this time it is the lad from Pune, Kedar Jadhav shot to fame in the 2016 IPL season with his acrobatic batting skills and decent-keeping abilities in a season that was remembered for Virat Kohli's heroics. Jadhav had a great season in 2016-17 helping India with his batting and talking about bowling skills. He is fondly remembered for his heroics in the ODI series against England in 2017, where he thrashed the English bowling to all parts, scoring a ton at his home ground at Pune.

Jadhav represented India in 82 International games 73 ODIs and 9 T20Is scoring 1389 and 122 runs respectively. Jadhav Played 95 IPL games for multiple IPL teams (Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad now defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala, and Chennai Super Kings scoring 1208 runs. 7. David Warner- Australia (All-Formats)

The first Australian on the list, David Warner's International career ended in the Men's T20 World Cup 2024, where Australia lost to eventual champions India in the Super 8 stages. Warner previously had retired from the test format after the end of the home series against Pakistan. He retired from the ODI format in 2023 after winning the ODI World Cup final against hosts India at Ahmedabad on 19th November. Warner represented Australia in 112 Tests, 161 ODIs, and 110 T20Is. 8. Rohit Sharma-India (T20Is)

Rohit Sharma got the perfect ending gift in the T20I format with finally an ICC trophy in his kitty. Sharma decided to retire from T20Is after winning the World Cup in Barbados against South Africa by 7 runs. Rohit Sharma played the most T20I matches for India (159). 9. Virat Kohli- India (T20Is)

Just like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli too got a perfect ending for him in the T20I format, winning the cup, and winning the man of the match in the finals with a crucial 76 off 59 balls that helped India to score 177. Kohli has represented India in 125 T20Is. Coming 9th in our list of cricketers who retired in 2024.

10. Ravindra Jadeja-India (T20Is)

Another Indian cricketer featured in the list, Jadeja followed Kohli and Rohit and announced his decision to retire, on the following day after the World Cup win. Jadeja represented India in 74 T20Is, scoring 515 runs and 54 wickets respectively. Coming 10th in our list of cricketers who retired in 2024.

11. Trent Boult- New Zealand (All

Boult announced his decision to retire after New Zealand's dismal performance in the T20 World Cup 2024. Boult represented the Blackcaps in the 61 T20Is, where he picked up 83 wickets. Coming 11th in our list of cricketers who retired in 2024.

12. Saurabh Tiwary- India (All-Formats)

Former Indian left-handed batter Saurabh Tiwary called time on his cricket career earlier this year he made his first-class debut in 2006-07. Tiwary was one of the players who played in the 2008 U-19 World Cup under the leadership of Virat Kohli which India won.

13. Varun Aaron- India (First-Class Cricket)

Fast bowler, Varun Aaron retired from first-class cricket earlier this year, at the end of the Ranji Trophy season, playing for Jharkhand. Aaron finishes with 66 first-class games, nine of which were for India. In nine Tests between 2011 and 2015, Aaron managed to pick 18 wickets at an average of 52.

14. David Wiese- Namibia (All-Formats)

Former South African & Namibian All-Rounder David Wiese retired from International Cricket during the Men's T20 World Cup this year. Wiese announced his decision after Namibia lost to England in the Group stages of the World Cup.

15. Colin Munro- New Zealand (All-Formats)

Former Kiwi Opener Colin Munro hung up his boots from International Cricket this year after getting snubbed from the squad of the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup. Munro played the last of 65 T20Is back in 2020. Munro has donned the Blackcaps jersey in ODI's 57 times.

16. Sybrand Englebrecht- Netherlands (All-formats)

Sybrand Englebrecht who played a crucial role in helping Netherlands win a couple of games in the Men's ODI World Cup last year announced his retirement after the culmination of the Men's T20 World Cup where the Netherlands lost all their games and crashed out of the tournament in the group stages itself.

17. Brian Masaba- Uganda (All-Formats)

Uganda Cricket team captain Brian Masaba stepped down as the captain of the side & announced retirement from International cricket after Uganda was knocked out in the Men's T20 World Cup this year.

18. James Anderson- England (All-Formats)

Star English fast bowler James Anderson retired from International Cricket in July this year after the first test against the touring West Indians at his home ground in Lord's. Anderson Played 188 test matches for England picking up 704 wickets.

19. Dawid Malan- England (All-formats)

The former England batter who was once ranked at the top spot in T20I cricket announced his retirement from International Cricket in August this year. Malan is only two of the England batters along with Buttler who has hit centuries in all three formats.

20. Shannon Gabriel- West Indies (All-Formats)

West Indian fast bowler Shannon Gabriel announced retirement from International Cricket in August this year. The 36-year-old played 59 Tests, 25 ODIs, and two T20Is, in which he scalped a total of 202 wickets across all formats. Gabriel has a good record for the West Indies team in Test Cricket, Gabriel has the best fourth-best test figures (13/121) that picked up against Sri Lanka in a home test in 2018.

21. Moeen Ali- England (All-Formats)

Star England All-Rounder Moeen Ali retired from all formats of International cricket this year on September 8. Ali 37, played a big role in helping England win the ODI World Cup at home in 2019 & the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022. Ali had already retired from Test Cricket but, had to reverse his decision after discussions with current test captain Ben Stokes.

22. Will Pucovski- Australia (All-Formats)

26-year-old Will Pucovski has had a tough time on and off the cricket field with plenty of head injuries in his career. The recent injury in March this year proved to be the final nail in the coffin that forced him to quit the game at a very young age. Pucovski played one test match for Australia against India where he scored a half-century on debut.

23. Barinder Sran- India (All-Formats)

Former Indian fast bowler Barinder Sran hung up his boots from International Cricket & Domestic Cricket earlier in the year at the age of 31. Sran represented India in 8-white ball matches picking up 13 wickets. He last played domestic cricket for Punjab in 2021.

24. Shakib-Al-Hasan- Bangladesh (Test & T20I)

Bangladesh's veteran All-Rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan announced his decision to retire from test cricket & T20I cricket during the second test match against India at Kanpur. In T20Is, Shakib has scored 2251 runs which are the highest runs scored by a Bangladeshi player in this format, Shakib also has 149 T20I wickets. In test cricket, Shakib has amassed over 4000 test runs & also picked up 240 wickets.

25. Mahmudullah- Bangladesh (T20Is)

Another Bangladeshi batter comes on the list, this time it is Mahmudullah Riyad. Mahmuddulah had already retired from Test Cricket sometime ago, during the 3-match T20I series against India recently he announced that he is retiring from the shortest format of the game to focus on ODI cricket.

26. Matthew Wade- Australia (All-Formats)

On 29th October 2024, Australia wicket-keeper batter Matthew Wade retired from International cricket. Having made his debut in 2011, Wade played 36 tests, 97 ODIs, and 92 T20Is for Australia. He scored 1613 runs in tests, 1867 runs in ODIs, and 1202 runs in T20Is. Wade played a crucial knock in the semi-final of the Men's 2021 T20 World Cup against Pakistan. Wade, is fondly remembered for smashing Shaheen Shah Afridi for three consecutive sixes in that Semi-Final in Dubai.

27. Wriddhiman Saha- India (All-Formats)

Former Indian Wicket-Keeper batter Wriddhiman Saha has announced his retirement from International & Domestic Cricket after the end of this year's Ranji Trophy season. Saha, who was playing for Tripura last year made a move back to his home state Bengal to end a glorious Cricket career.

28. Siddharth Kaul- India (Indian Cricket)

Another Indian player features in the list, this time it's Siddharth Kaul who announced his retirement from Indian cricket today. Kaul played 6 International games for India, his stellar performances with the ball in IPL 2017 & 18 earned him a call-up into the side for the tour of England. Besides this, Kaul was also a part of the Indian team that lifted the Asia Cup in 2018 in Dubai.

28. Imad Wasim- Pakistan (All-Formats)

Former Pakistani All-Rounder Imad Wasim once again announced his retirement from International Cricket after previously retiring last year. Wasim, had a prolific PSL earlier this year that saw Wasim taking Islamabad United to the finals and winning the title. This prompted the player and the selectors to consider him for the Men's T20I World Cup in West Indies & USA earlier this year.

Wasim had a horrendous campaign as he couldn't lay bat on ball in Pakistan's run chase of a meager 120 set by India. His inability to hit boundaries resulted in Pakistan losing the game by 7 runs. Imad Wasim made his international debut in 2015 and soon became a dependable all-rounder. Over his career, he represented Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is.

29. Tim Southee- New Zealand (Tests)

Veteran Kiwi bowler & former New Zealand test skipper Tim Southee announced his retirement before the three-match test series against England. If New Zealand had qualified for the WTC final Southee would've made himself available for that but, the Kiwis unfortunately lost the home test series against England. Southee played 107 tests for the Blackcaps picking up 391 wickets. Southee had also led New Zealand in 13 tests as full-time captain. Before their arrival to India 3-match series Southee stepped down as NZ's test captain & handed over the duties to Tom Latham.

30. Ankit Rajpoot- India (Indian Cricket)

Uttar Pradesh seamer Ankit Rajpoot announced his retirement from Indian Cricket at the age of 31. Rajpoot stated that he is looking to explore cricket opportunities outside India. Rajpoot played in the IPL for multiple franchises namely Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals & most recently the Lucknow Supergiants, where he was benched throughout his tenure.

31. Ravichandran Ashwin- India (All-Formats)

India's ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has called time on his International career after the end of the 3rd test at the Gabba in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Ashwin, 37 bids adieu after playing 106 tests, 116 ODIs & 65 T20Is for India picking up 537, 156 & 72 wickets respectively.
