Uncapped Duo of Kwena Maphaka and Jason Smith have earned maiden call-ups in the South African squad that is set to take on the West Indies in a 3-match T20I series. This will be South Africa's first T20I game since their agonizing loss to India in Barbados on June 29.
White-ball head coach Rob Walter has today named the 15-player squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International (T20I) series against the West Indies, which gets underway later this month in Trinidad and Tobago.

Smith scored 291 runs in the CSA T20 Challenge at an average of 41.37. The Proteas have also included a left seamer in Kwena Maphaka who played a pivotal role in the U-19 World Cup where picked up 21 wickets.
Most of the senior players of the Protea team were not considered for selection including the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Quinton De Kock, and Heinrich Klassen, due to reasons stated by their coach Rob Walter.

Another player Nqaba Peter wasn't considered for selection as he is still recovering from a shoulder injury.

"This series will allow young talent to come while also maintaining a balance between the experienced and young players, this will give our upcoming youngsters a flavor of International Cricket against a quality side like West Indies," Walter stated
