Ishan Kishan is in line to replace Rishabh Pant in the remaining 5th test in the Anderson-Tendulkar trophy 2025. The left-handed wicket-keeper is a like-for-like replacement for Rishabh Pant, is expected to be called up soon, the update is expected to come soon.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the touring team management are yet to formally make an announcement on the extent of Pant's injury and his unavailability for the fifth and final Test next week. With Pant now ruled out of the fifth test at the Oval, the BCCI & the management are unlikely to take much time on this issue.

Ishan was recently in England playing county cricket for Nottinghamshire, where he had a good outing against Yorkshire & Somerset, scoring 77 & 87 against the two opponents, respectively. But the batter is now reportedly said to have returned to India.

Ishan Kishan Could Replace Rishabh Pant

If Kishan is added to the squad, it would be a redemption time for the 'keeper, who missed out on a berth in the Indian team despite scoring a double hundred in an ODI. The batter was sanctioned by the BCCI for not honoring the rules & regulations laid by the board for domestic cricket.

KS Bharat is another keeper-batter option, & is currently playing in England for Dulwich CC. The Andhra keeper even played a Test in England but is unlikely to be considered.

Dhruv Jurel is already in the squad, and he is expected to keep the wickets in the ongoing Old Trafford Test. India also has the option of falling back on KL Rahul, who has kept wickets in international games, including in the World Cup and Champions Trophy.
