The GMR group, Co-owners of the Delhi Capitals has acquired the Hampshire County Cricket Club, this is the first time in the history of the game that a county team has been acquired by an International company.
The firm led by Kiran Kumar Gandhi & Hampshire County has agreed that the GMR group will acquire a 100% stake in Hampshire Sport & Leisure Holdings Limited, the parent company of Hampshire Cricket. The club has stated that the acquisition process will be completed in the next 24 months.

The club was founded in 1863, it is one of the 18 first-class counties associated with the England Cricket Board. The buying will not have an immediate effect on ECB's plan to privatize 'The Hundred'.
The deal is worth 45 Million Pounds (Approx. Rs 450-500 Crore), and the GMR group is buying 53% of Stakes at the moment for a whopping 23 Million Pounds (approximately Rs 230-300 Crores). The remaining 47% will be done over the next 2 years as there are few incentives involved which are subject to Hampshire County's offering of some promised deliverables.
