Georgia Voll Added To Australia Squad For NZ Tour

Voll has had a great couple of matches in the ongoing 3-match ODI series against India

New Recruit Georgia Voll has been added to the Australian squad for the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand Women, the tour beginning on 19th December. Voll has had two good matches against the India Women, In the first match she scored 46* to help Australia win by 5 wickets. In the second ODI Voll slammed her maiden International ton to ensure the Aussies breached the 350-mark & ended up winning the match by 122 runs, also taking a 2-0 unassailable lead in the 3-match series.

But, Voll became a known commodity only in the recently concluded WBBL where, she scored 330 runs in 12 matches, the fifth-highest scorer in the competition for the Sydney Thunder. The Sydney franchise went till the challenger round, where they went down to the eventual runners-up Brisbane Heat Women.

Ellyse Perry had heaped praises on Voll after she slammed her maiden ODI century against India in the 2nd ODI.

"She was just relaxed, she is a person who loves to take everything in her stride, we need these types of Characters in our teams, the teams are built on the method of pushing each and every individual to give their best as much as they can & seize every opportunity to perform for the team".

Voll had earlier been called up just for the India series as a replacement player for the skipper Alyssa Healy who's currently injured. Healy had a foot injury in the WBBL and was ruled out of the tournament. On the national front, Healy last represented Australia in the Women's World Cup, where Healy got another foot injury and was subsequently ruled out of the tournament, where, Australia shockingly crashed out in the semi-final round.

Meanwhile, New South Wales Head Coach Gavan Twining is et to join the national squad as a fielding & Wicket-keeping consultant for two years. Twining will link up with assistant coaches Scott Prestwidge & Dan Marsh.
