Under Gambhir's guidance, KKR has begun preparing for the next Indian Premier League season with hopes of capturing the trophy that has evaded them for ten years. Russell and Gambhir went from being colleagues with the Kansas City Royals to having a player-mentor connection. Under Gambhir's leadership, the West Indies all-rounder joined the two-time IPL champions in 2014.
