It is learnt that Farque was informed about the government's decision in the meeting. Faruque Ahmed stated to Cricbuzz that he is yet to decide the future course of action.
"The Advisor has stated to me that they are not willing to continue with me as the BCB president. Ahmed told Cricbuzz. I've not yet decided the future course of action; let's see what happens." Ahmed Concluded.
There can be complications if Faruque does not resign. If he is removed without resignation, it can be termed as government interference, which goes against the laws placed by the International Cricket Council(ICC). Earlier ICC had banned Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe for government interference.
It is understood that former national skipper Aminul Islam is in front seat to replace Faruque. It was learnt that Aminul, who is currently associated with ICC as the development officer, will be seeking a three-month notice from his role in ICC to fill the post with the BCB elections are scheduled in October.
Aminul arrived in Dhaka earlier this week, and since there have been rumors of a massive shake up in the BCB regime.
The National Sports Council (NSC) appointed Faruque Ahmed and Nazmul Abedin, a prominent local coach who also spoke against the BCB were appointed as its directors.
This move comes as the NSC replaced former directors Jalal Yunus and Ahmed Sajjadul Alam with Faruque and Nazmul. While Yunus resigned, Alam refused to leave his role hence, leaving the ball in NSC's court. Alam resigned after Nazmul Hasan who, was serving his fourth term as the BCB president decided to quit.
Nazmul Hasan has been residing in London with his wife ever since the unrest in the country began, triggered by the student protests against the recently dissolved Sheikh Hasina government.
