Mohun Bagan SG Storms Into The Semis

Football Giants Mohun Bagan confirmed their spot in the semi-finals after they beat Punjab FC in the quarter-finals in the penalties by a margin of 6-5 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.

The Quarter Final clash proved to be a thriller with both teams getting tied 3-3 each after the completion of the game.

The Punjab FC started the proceedings by scoring the first goal when a penalty was converted by Luca Majcen in the first half. Mohun Bagan soon responded via Suhail Bhat as the first half ended on equal terms.

Substitute Manvir Singh then scored in the second half for Mohun Bagan to take the lead. Punjab responded aggressively with twin strikes from Filip Mrzjlak and Pulga Vidal ensuring Punjab took the lead.

Another Substitute from Mohun Bagan this time was Jason Cummings scored the equalizer in the 79th minute to ensure that the game went into the penalty round.

The winning moment arrived for the Kolkata giants when Scottish defender Thomas Aldred scored a crucial goal, after Kaith's crucial goal save off Denechandaram Meetei, which led to Mohun Bagan advancing to the Semi-Finals.
