Former Indian wicket Keeper and Batter Dinesh Karthik has been appointed as the batting coach and mentor of RCB (Royal Challengers Bengaluru), ahead of next year's IPL Auction.

Karthik is the World Cup winner of 2007. Karthik has played in every IPL season until his retirement after the end of this season.

He once again got a chance to don the blue jersey in the 2022 T20 World Cup as he had a stellar IPL season in 2022 where he refreshed everyone with his finishing skills. Karthik though proved to be the major weak link in the World Cup and was dropped midway.

Karthik playing one last in the IPL this season had scored 300 runs for the Bengaluru-based franchise.

Karthik Told To Cricbuzz

I want to give something back to the team, coaching and commentary is something I'm looking to mix in the future. Karthik said
It is something very difficult to do and mix the jobs, but I also admit that many players who have played with the franchise want me back in the setup, it is a very positive feeling and I'm very excited to join the team again. quipped Karthik

Coaching is something I'm very keen and excited to look upon, as it is a new opportunity for me and a new beginning, hopefully, my experience as a player can add value to the team, Karthik said
I think that Cricket depends not only on technical things but also on game awareness and the ability to maintain composure in crunch match situations, I'm looking forward to joining my team again as a mentor. he added.

RCB's director Mo Bobat was happy with the appointment of Dinesh Karthik and him joining the team back again as a mentor.

"DK in our group has been a great addition, we have seen him perform to the best of his skills, and I'm confident that he will bring his valuable experience to the table. He has a great track record as a player and his longevity can help the team grow", Bobat said
DK has been a long-standing servant for International Cricket as an Indian player and as well in the IPL for RCB, he has a great cricketing brain, and we are very happy to retain DK again at RCB in a new role, DK can perform and be calm under pressure, something which I want to Instill in my players, especially the batting department, we are heading into some time exciting moments ahead as guy like Dinesh knows how is the pressure when you are playing for RCB and their loyal fans.
