The Delhi Capitals have signed Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement for the Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk for the remainder of the IPL. The explosive Australian opener has decided not to return to the IPL due to personal reasons. Meanwhile, his replacement, Mustafizur Rahman, has previously represented the Delhi franchise in the 2022 & 2023 editions of the IPL.

Incidentally, at the time of this replacement update, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has stated to Cricbuzz that the board hasn't received a request for the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the bowler as yet. Mustafizur is named in the squad for Bangladesh's tour to the UAE to play the 2-match series. The Bangladeshi team is scheduled to fly to the UAE later this evening.

I don't have any information on him (Mustafizur Rahman) joining the Delhi Capitals. He is with the team on the UAE tour, No? we haven't received any information regarding this as yet."

The Bangladeshi seamer has plenty of experience playing in the IPL. Mustafizur made his IPL debut for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2016, where he helped the team to win the title, scalping 16 wickets in 14 games. Mustafizur also became the only overseas player to bag the emerging player award in the IPL. Mustafizur has represented four IPL franchises: SRH, RR, DC & CSK.

Mustafizur is going to be the third left-arm seam bowling option for the Delhi Capitals with the likes of T Natarajan & Mitchell Starc already there in the camp. The DC with 3 games left in the season is still in the hunt to qualify for the playoffs.

They're currently fifth with 13 points from 11 fixtures, only a point behind fourth-placed MI who have played one game more. DC's three remaining fixtures are against fellow top-four aspirants in GT, MI and PBKS.
