David Warner Signs Off After Australia's Exit from T20 World Cup 2024

David Warner retires from International Cricket after Australia was knocked out of the T20 World Cup

Australian Opener David Warner signed off from the International scene after his side was knocked out of the race to make it to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Australia's chances of making it to the semis took a hit after they lost to Afghanistan by 21 runs. Their chances took a deep dive down when they lost to India at St. Lucia by 24 runs.

Warner Bids Adieu

Warner had already announced his retirement from the test format during the World Test championship final and that he would be playing his last test in Sydney against Pakistan. Warner played his last ODI against India in the ODI World Cup final which he won.

Warner after announcing his decision also stated that if Australia calls him for the Champions Trophy in 2025 scheduled to be held in Pakistan he would return. However, looking at the current scenarios it's an unlikely option.

"Yeah, I guess we are getting used to it now, it's a bit of a slow process for our test and ODI outfits as he was a vital cog for us over the years and now in T20s. I think we are getting a bit used to it we played a series without him in New Zealand. It's tough to lose a player like Davey, but we've to move on and Push forward". Hazlewood stated.

David Warner has won 1 T20 World Cup in 2021 in Dubai, 2 ODI World Cups in 2015 at Home, and 2023 in India, apart from this the veteran opener has also touched the silverware in the newly contested tournament the World Test Championship.

In terms of International runs Warner has scored close to 19000 runs with 49 centuries.

On the IPL front David Warner has played for Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, he is one of the most successful overseas batters in IPL history.
