In December, McGregor declared on social media that he will challenge 185-pound Michael Chandler at International Fight Week in Las Vegas on June 29. White simply stated that McGregor will be fighting "this year," as reported by Aaron Bronsteter of Sportsnet. In July 2021, McGregor participated in UFC 264, where he was defeated by TKO by Dustin Poirier. His latest victory over Donald Cerrone was in January 2020. When he announced his return in December, McGregor referred to his impending bout with Chandler as the "greatest comeback of all time."
According to ESPN's Brett Okamoto, both fighters have a history of competing below 185 pounds. McGregor has held belts at 145 and 155 pounds, while Chandler has fought under 155 pounds in each of his five UFC battles.
But Chandler isn't the only person who wants to face McGregor when he makes the much-anticipated comeback to the UFC. During UFC 300 in April, Nate Diaz, who has already faced McGregor twice, made hints on social media that he would be open to taking on the former lightweight and featherweight champion.
