The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have acquired the services of former Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun. The former Indian seamer is widely regarded as one of the major figures in shaping the Indian seam bowling attack during his tenure at the national side. Arun was previously associated with three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders. At KKR, Arun enjoyed success, overseeing KKR's third IPL title in 2024. Bharat was at KKR for four years.

According to sources, it's understood that Arun has penned a two-year deal with the Lucknow-based franchise as a bowling coach, a role that will see him working with the franchise throughout the year.

Bharat Arun Joins LSG

The induction of Arun into the coaching staff means LSG is likely to part ways with Mentor Zaheer Khan, who was appointed on a one-year contract. The management is reviewing the situation at the moment. If the sources are to be believed, the Lucknow team is likely to part ways with its head coach, Justin Langer, who joined the side two seasons ago.

The Arun development, which has been in the pipeline for some time, comes a day after the Knight Riders parted ways with head coach Chandrakant Pandit. There are now two spots up for grabs in the KKR setup. It is understood that the three-time champions will recruit new staff only after a robust selection process.

Bharat Arun and KKR, clearly, have parted ways amicably. With Dwayne Bravo, the team's mentor, also overseeing the bowling strategies, there was a mutual consent that too many inputs may not be in the best interest of the side.

Besides, KKR has maintained an 'institutional policy' of not standing in the way of its staff's professional growth. It is understood that this message was conveyed to Arun when he approached the franchise seeking a release.
