Cameron Bancroft is all but ruled out of the remainder of the Big Bash League 2024-25 after breaking his nose and shoulder in a horrible collision with Sydney Thunder teammate Daniel Sams in the 15th over of the round-robin match against Perth Scorchers. The seriousness of the injury has all but ended his BBL season, and his domestic season could also be more or less over.
Meanwhile, Daniel Sams has been ruled out for 12 days after it was revealed that both players had suffered concussions. Both players remained at the Perth Hospital where they were admitted after being stretched out from the venue.

"Both players were in good spirits, the manager stated on Channel 7, the medical staff & Perth Scorchers were on the ground & the hospital staff were simply incredible, we thank them from the bottom of our hearts from the Thunder group, the families of both the players have also said thanks to the staff"
"Both of them are incredibly tough guys, everybody knows what type of a guy Cameron Bancroft is, he's a very tough bloke, despite getting injured, he watched the entire match till the end "
With Bancroft out and Sams set to miss at least the next four games, the Thunder will have to look for ideal replacements if they have to retain their headstart that they have got in the tournament (winning 4 matches out of 5).
Thunder though, will have the services of their 19-year-old shining star Sam Konstas after the conclusion of the Border Gavaskar Trophy albeit for a limited period as the Australian team is set to travel to Sri Lanka for a 2-match test series before that the Australians will precede for a training camp in UAE.
