In a twisting turn of events star Pakistani batter Babar Azam has announced his resignation from the post as the captain of the Pakistani Cricket team effective immediately.
The Pakistan Cricket circuit has been undergoing a lot of changes in the last year, Babar was subsequently removed as the captain of the side following a dismal performance in the ODI Cricket World Cup in 2023 in India, where Pakistan failed to go beyond the league stage round.
Babar Azam announced his resignation on the social media networking site 'X' (formerly known as Twitter).
Dear Fans,

I'm sharing some news with you today. I have decided to resign as captain of the Pakistan men's cricket team, effective as of my notification to the PCB and Team Management last month.
It's been an honour to lead this team, but it's time for me to step down and focus…
Babar has been going through a lean run of form in the last year, Babar hit a new low as captain by losing against USA in the T20 World Cup earlier this year before going down to their arch-rivals & eventual champions of the tournament India.
The Cricketing structure & mood in the Pakistan camp haven't been great either as Pakistan reached a new low in their Cricketing history when they lost a recent home test series against Bangladesh.
With tours of Australia, Zimbabwe South Africa & most importantly the ICC Champions Trophy at home coming up in a short period Pakistan has to search for a new white ball captain at the earliest.
