Indian Cricket saw a new record unfold at the cool conditions of Lahli as a Haryana Fast bowler Anshul Kamboj picked up 10 wickets in an innings in the Elite Group C round 5 clash of the Ranji Trophy between Haryana and Kerala.
Kamboj, who played for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, bowled a brilliant spell (10/49) against a strong Kerala batting line-up to restrict them to a total of 291.
Anshul Kamboj became only the third bowler in the history of the Ranji Trophy competition to pick up 10 wickets in an inning behind Bengal's Premangshu Chatterjee of Bengal who picked (10/20, Bengal v Assam, 1956) and Pradeep Sundaram of Rajasthan (10/78, Rajasthan v Vidarbha, 1985) being the second player.
Overall in First Class Cricket Kamboj is the sixth Indian who has picked up 10 wickets in first-class cricket, the elite list features some prominent bowlers like Anil Kumble, Debashish Mohanty & Subash Gupte.
Former Indian bowler & Haryana seamer Joginder Sharma held the best bowling figures for Haryana in the Ranji Trophy when he scalped 8 wickets against Vidarbha in the 2004-05 season.
Anshul had already picked up 8 wickets yesterday, he added 2 more wickets in the form of Basil Thampi & Shoun Roger to create history.
The fast bowler also played in the recently concluded ACC men's emerging Asia cup, before the T20 tournament he also participated in the Duleep Trophy playing for India C.
On the IPL front, Anshul Kamboj was picked up by the reliance group owned by Mumbai Indians for his base price of INR 20 Lakhs. Kamboj played three matches for Mumbai picking 2 wickets. He made his IPL debut against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium.
