Australian skipper Alyssa Healy is doubtful for the remainder of the Ashes series as she sustained a foot injury in the SCG on Jan 20 for the 1st T20I of the Ashes series. The injury has further put her participation for the rest of the series in doubt. The tight schedule in the upcoming two weeks puts her in a race against time to regain full fitness.
Healy reported soreness in the same foot which was injured during the T20 World Cup last October after she ruptured her plantar fascia. She has been plagued with injuries after she picked up a knee injury ruling her out of the Women's Big Bash and the subsequent ODI series against India. Healy returned to Cricket as a pure batter in the series against New Zealand, she resumed her wicket-keeping job during the ODI series against England, this injury adds a body blow to the illustrious career of the Aussie women's team captain.
Cricket Australia released a statement saying that Healy was being managed in a boot and her participation depends on the extent of the injury for which information is awaited.
"she is currently being managed for the foot, which also rules her out of the 1st T20I against England, the CA is currently consulting with the specialists to plan the further course of her recovery program, her recovery program will be discussed as more info on her comes out."
