The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced that they will be hosting the South Africa Cricket Team for a short tour, comprising 3 ODI's in Sharjah. Both the boards made this announcement via a joint media release. The series will be played in September.
This will be the first time that South Africa will be playing a white-ball series against Afghanistan. This tour will be marked as a possible preparation for the upcoming champions trophy in 2025 scheduled to be hosted in Pakistan in February-March in 2025.
Before this, the two nations have only clashed in the ICC events in the ODI World Cups of 2019 and 2023. Both teams recently clashed in the Semi-Finals of the T20 World Cup in 2024 in West Indies and the USA where the South Africans beat Afghanistan and played their maiden final in an ICC event.
Initially, this tour wasn't there in our Future Tours Programme, but due to constant negotiations with the South African Cricket Board we have finalized the window for this series, we are very excited to play this series as the South African side is a great team in Cricketing World
